Thousands donate hand-knitted bird nests to a rescue group for baby birds in need
The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue group in North Carolina usually sees a sudden increase in the number of injured or abandoned baby birds around the Spring season. To keep these tiny birds alive and comfortable can be quite a task.
So the group posted a plea last month on its Facebook page asking for knitted and crocheted nests for their baby birds. And the people’s response was truly overwhelming!
Since that fateful post, the organization has received thousands of little knitted nests from places as far away as Canada and Japan! In fact, the center’s nest supply has gotten so large, the staff has had to dedicate part of a storage unit to organize them.
