Turkish gym gives free lifetime pass to Syrian refugee looking longingly through the window
A photograph of Muhammet Halit, a shoe-shiner in Adiyaman, went viral recently where he is seen staring longingly through the window of a Turkish gym. The 12 year old Syrian refugee is seen with his shoe-shining equipment, wearing a pair of slippers, in the cold winter season.
The gym offered a free lifetime membership to Muhammet after his photo went viral, winning the hearts of many people.
“A boy, looking through the gym window, wearing slippers in the middle of winter and carrying his backpack. Our aim was to find him and offer him a lifetime membership here. And, we did it. He is one of our members now,” state-run Anadolu Agency quoted Engin Dogan, the gym co-owner, as saying.
