Simon Cowell donates money to help shut down a South Korean dog meat farm
America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell donated over $32,000 to animal welfare charity Humane Society International, which will help the latter save more than 200 dogs from getting slaughtered at a South Korean dog meat farm.
HSI plans to go to the dog farm next week to pick up the canines. Then, they will send the dogs to various countries including the US, Canada, the UK, and the Netherlands for recovery and adoption.
It should be noted that closing the farms doesn’t just involve saving the animals. HSI also helps dog meat farmers transition to more humane businesses, like chili or mushroom farming.
“With every dog farm we close and every farmer we help switch to a more profitable, humane business, we’re showing the South Korean government that it’s possible to end this cruel trade,” the organizaton said.
